| Introduction | I grew up the youngest of four daughters, with 18 years separating me from the eldest, within an enviroment that was growing with violence from the outskirts in. With this in mind, I consider myself more than lucky. I am blessed. Never had the crime touched me. Thanks to my loving parents, and the wonderful neighbors that helped raised me, I felt comforted always, loved aways, safe always, even when I was standing in the mist of war. I felt a peace that only God can grant a child of His. It is this that I understand completely. |
| Interests | I'm interested in meeting other people who are set on making a positive impact on the world. |
| Favorite movies | In the Bedroom, Braveheart, Sense and Sensibility, Man on Fire, Cold Mountain, Little Children, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Good Will Hunting, Ghost, The Women of Brewsters Place, The Color Purple, Million Dollar Baby,Shawshank Redemption, 3:10 to Yuma, Malcolm X,The River Niger |
| Favorite music | I love music that can endure the test of time. I enjoy the sounds of real instruments and the voices of artists that aren't enhanced by the studio. I love jazz, gospel, neo-soul, and respectable hip-hop. As for artists, Mary-Mary, Mint Condition,Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Joe Sample, Chrisette Michelle, Tamia, Shanice, Donny Hathaway, Jill Scott, and Chante Moore are among my favorites. |
| Favorite books | I try not to get wrapped up in other writers languages. Yet, I support their work and stock up on their books to keep me straight. I try never to submerge my head into their stories, since I fear they might rub off on my own. Instead, I'm interested in the way they write, and constantly I read just a piece of their work, and use it to measure my own. "I gotta to pick it up," I say. 'This chapter must be better,' I think after reading some of my favorite authors. And so, I thank Toni Morrison, Terry McMillian, Jodi Picoult, and a few others for pushing me to be better. |
