| Introduction | This blog centers on the Sedna project, Sea ice Experiment: Dynamic Nature of the Arctic (IPY 2007), and in particular on team members Robert Harris and Cathy Geiger. Cathy and Robert will be spending the first two April 2007 weeks on the sea ice (frozen ocean water) that floats on top of the Arctic ocean (more specifically, in the Beaufort Sea off the Alaskan coast). They will be based in a camp built under contract for the US and British Navy who will hold an exercise lasting until late March. The science focuses on measuring the evolution of sea ice during spring, when the overall distribution transforms from its winter (maximal) extent to the summer (minimal) extent.
