| Introduction | I have always been interested in science, and particularly fascinated by the workings of the human brain. It is said that a single mouse brain is more powerful than all the computers in the world, and the human brain is more than a million times more powerful than that. We are still in the primitive stages of understanding how the brain works, and this is what is so exciting about neuroscience. From treating debilitating disorders like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or multiple sclerosis, to understanding the processes of learning and memory, to discovering the biochemical basis of drug addiction, to creating personalised medications - the possibilities are endless. After taking a keen interest in biology and chemistry while studying for my International Baccalaureate, I decided to study neuroscience at Sussex University - one of the UK's leading research universities - before completing my Master's degree at the University of Bristol, with the aim of pursuing a career in science. I am currently looking to start my career in Medical Communications. |
