| Introduction | I am a wife, mama, and teacher. High school 9th grade teacher to be exact. As an educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that my students are college ready. While there are many lessons that have helped create these habits, it is my core values that I have established for myself and my classroom, that are what I believe to have the most impact on my students. My core values are accessible to them on my website www.TaughtbyTolman.com and episode 16 of my podcast Mrs. Tolman Saves the World. (FYI these are it:) 1. Engage fully- be where your feet are 2. You can sit with us 3. Better than yesterday- growth mindset- only competition is yourself 4. Plan to succeed- be intentional with how work is completed 5. We are servant leaders- we give back and serve our community- doesn’t have to be financially it can be with time 6. We choose joy- we ground ourselves in gratitude I live by these values and model them for our students. In my class, they know they are accepted and that they can be themselves. We get excited about serving our community setting goals, and showing gratitude. |
