Introduction | Wm. Blake, poet and engraver, was born in 1757 and passed away in 1827. Wikipedia states that "He was from earliest youth a seer of visions and a dreamer of dreams, seeing "Ezekiel sitting under a green bough," and "a tree full of angels at Peckham," and such he remained to the end of his days." This makes him sound rather like a goody-two shoes when, quite to the contrary, he was quite a hell-raiser. I have chosen Wm Blake as my nom de guerre as a nod to this remarkable poet, who confounded me as a young English major many years ago with his intricate mythologies and typically obtuse early Romantic style of writing. I have since come to love "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" as a declaration of freedom and used the screen name "Swedenborg" many years ago when I posted to AOL and use-groups on Carlos Castaneda (Blake was already taken, being a common name, but Swedenborg was available - and Swedenborg was one of the religious visionaries whom Blake admired). I am not sure whether this blog will have a particular theme - my "hobby" is the occult - or whether it will extend to all and everything. |
