| Introduction | Dr. Gary Marvin Davison began working with inner city youth as a volunteer and program coordinator during his undergraduate years. Over a 35-year career, he has taught inner-city and at-risk youth in high schools of Texas and Minnesota, and he taught a GED curriculum for one year in a Missouri prison. He was awarded a Ph.D. in history by the University of Minnesota in 1993. Dr. Davison is the author of seven books, including three in the field of his Ph.D.(Chinese and Taiwanese history) and three of particular interest to the community in which he has done most of his teaching. The latter works include >The State of African Americans in Minnesota 2004< (Minneapolis Urban League, 2004),>The State of African Americans in Minnesota 2008< (Minneapolis Urban League, 2008), and >A Concise History of African America< (Seaburn, 2008). |
