| Introduction | Four decades of writing and teaching have taught me that I will always be learning, and that in fact writing and teaching are the "chiefest" tools of learning, or if not the absolute "chiefest," then certainly “mighty highly-ranked amongst those tools.” My mother, an excellent teacher herself, once told me in words something like, “John, you are a natural teacher. You should teach.” And I’m a pretty fair writer too. So, let’s write together for a while, you and I, and along the way we will talk about the art and skill of putting words together one after the other in meaningful ways. And the feeling of joy at doing so. |
