Introduction	The Push is a non-profit, statewide youth entertainment organisation. It was established to provide opportunities for young people to access affordable, alcohol free events and to have the option to participate in the life of the local community. The Push is currently funded through the Office for Youth, FReeZA program. The Push operates through a network of committees in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria and provides information and support to all young people in Victoria who wish to stage alcohol and drug free entertainment or who wish to develop a career in the music industry. The Push has strong associations with bands, DJs, managers, booking agencies, security firms, sound & lighting companies, local, metropolitan and national radio, street press, regional and national television, mainstream media, record companies, staging companies, publicists and graphic artists. Over the years, The Push has involved over 500,000 young Victorians in a safe environment. Many successful high profile bands and artists have been discovered and many young people starting out in the music industry have gained experience and training via their involvement with The Push.
