About me

Industry Arts
Occupation Jewelry Designer
Location Los Angeles, CA, United States
Introduction I'm Jill, or I'm Jools. I am mother to daughter Lucy, 13, and son Aidan, 17. My husband, Jeremy, and I met in college in Oregon in 1986 when he was a 17 year-old freshman, and I an older woman of 18. While we've bounced around a bit, figuratively and literally, I still consider "home" to be Lawrence, KS, where I was born & raised. We spend long hot summers here, and pray for snow every Christmas. Somehow, though, we seem to have truly settled a million miles from Kansas, in Los Angeles, which remains #2 in the list of US-Cities-in-Which-I-Cannot-Imagine-Living. Before Lucy arrived, I worked as a Chimp Keeper at the LA Zoo, and maybe some day I will get back into animal care, once I've had enough of the beasts in my own home. I am a self-taught artisan (perpetually in-training), a somewhat clumsy craftswoman with the very best of intentions. Where this blog will take me is anyone's guess. Please join me.
Interests Reading, movies, fishing, camping, card- and board-games w the kids, wilderness and wild animals, making pretty things
Favorite Music Stuck in the 80s, I'm afraid.
Favorite Books Just started Harry Potter! I laugh out loud when reading anything by David Sedaris. I am NEVER without a book (thus tearing every book I read to shreds by toting it with me everywhere I go, including the bath), but mostly I enjoy a decent mystery, and am in the middle of James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series.

What's the best time you've ever had licking stamps?

I may be the only person who misses licking stamps. I actually go out of my way to find the lickable ones, because they have cooler designs; the better the stamp the better the letter. Stamps play an integral role in my correspondence with my best pen-pal George. This in no way answers the question, but what else is new?
