| Introduction | Hi there – I am a contemporary watercolor artist originally from London, now living at the beach in Los Angeles. For the past 26 years I have worked on and off in the Commercial Art world. As a family we travel frequently between the mountains and the coast of California. Yosemite is a place where my children have grown up amongst the granite rocks and cool waters of the Merced River…. Much of my inspiration as an artist comes from my beautiful surroundings. Yosemite in particular, is a very special place to go and paint. It always overwhelms me with its beauty. There is so much detail to take in – and the secret for me as an artist is to try and simplify color and form. Watercolor is my favorite medium because it is probably the most difficult to work with. It often has a mind of its own – is temperamental – takes no prisoners – and the most active on paper! – There is always something quite delicious about opening up a very well used watercolor box. It is like my old friend – has traveled far and wide with me and experienced much. - I am always in my happiest state of mind with brush in hand and watercolor box open to create!
