| Favorite music | i can't explain why Bud Powell's playing on I'll Remember April from Mingus At Antibes(1960) makes me cry but it's happening again right now. Besides NegroHeritageFreedoMusik (:thats jazz-ThankYouJulianCarroll), i remember natal exposure to "jimi"(frank sr. use-ta joke it was my first word)also ledzeppelin mountain etc-any heavier&funkier rock some other stuff..but mostly i remember Funk. i learned how to hear the Funk in music that was barely funky..Really it's all about Funkadelic - How Do Yeaw View You from Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic is a perennial fav that i don't hear played much, i've long been a fan of Can: collectively-improvising germans led by great bass & drums w/ a japanese vocal percussionist and a black USer poet/vocalist krautrocked hella funky soundtracky & often strange in a well-travelled sorta way, i like lots of afro-world & world music -there's so much!, i also grew up in hiphop-i was even a pretty good DJ for a couplefew years-but Damn I Wish More Young Black USers Still Loved Playing Instruments and that the hip hop generation'd RealEyes that macho homophobia and especially misogyny runs directly counter to Our Way, and lastly Commercial Radio & TV Kill Innocent Children (domestic terrorism of the mind-someone call Homeland Security!) |
