Introduction I am a Social Studies Teacher at Thurgood Marshall Academy in Washington, DC. Last year my students challenged me to apply to something out of my reach as I was giving them the same advice when completing college applications. As a result, I applied for the Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Program. I found out in May that I was selected for the award and that I would be headed to Finland to work on my action research project. For the next 7 months, I am living and working in Finland while I am on a leave of absence from my school. I feel extremely lucky to be here!
