| Introduction | I was brought up by parents who were children of the 'Great Depression' and was reared in a very Left-wing Democratic household whose greatest hero was Franklin Roosevelt. After finishing High School and having returned to family in Israel, in order to complete my B.A. degree at Tel Aviv University, right after the Yom Kippur War, I had my first experience living on a socialist Kibbutz and a centrally managed socialist economy in Israel, then headed by the Israeli Labor Party. I saw first hand some of the daily frustrations, inefficiencies, corruption, and waste in such an economic system. I figured there must be a better way!? I returned in the mid 1980s to NYC, working on Wall Street right before the Crash of 1987, and having commenced my MBA program at Pace University, I had the privilege of taking a number of courses in Economics from Professor Joseph Salerno, who introduced me to the world of Ludwig Von Meises, Murray Rothbard, and other great thinkers of Austrian School of Economics. My world perspective was forever changed! |
