| Introduction | Mohammed Issa Haji( Matona) Born in 1969 in Paje, Zanzibar Primary and secondary education in Zanzibar and Morogoro Inspiration: from my father Issa Matona who was a famous musician. In 1996 I left school and joined my father as his percussionist in Dar es Salaam at Dhamira Musical Club, African and Kidumbak Group which was owned by my father Issa Matona. When I returned to Zanzibar in 1997 I joined the Khasi Musical Club. In 2002 the DCMA Music School opened its doors and I was asked to join as a teacher and founder member of the academy where I am teaching upto today. Music has taken me around the world to countries such as France, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Egypt, Holland , Comoros, Mayotte Kenya and Ethiopia Work Experience: From 2002 Head Teacher in Arabic and Western as well as music Theory at DCMA. Board – and amongst the founder members of the Dhow Countries Music Academy (www.zanzibarmusic.org) Teaching Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Oud, Violin, Cello, Nay and leading the artistic team. |
