| Introduction | I’m a native English speaker based in Scotland. I arrived at academic editing 8 years ago via a meandering route that accommodated raising two sons. With a chemistry PhD, I spent my first 5 years as an editor working mainly on academic journal articles in chemistry and materials science. However, my scope widened 3 years ago to include most academic fields. I became experienced in editing theses, dissertations, college essays, and personal statements, as well as journal articles. I love editing because every document teaches me something. I’m passionate about helping my clients improve their academic English wherever they are on their academic journey. I’ve edited for professors as well as students, and many of my clients speak English as a second or third language, with some returning numerous times. As an editor, I improve grammar, style, and tone and can suggest improvements to clarity and structure. I’m experienced in APA 7th style.
