Introduction	According to people-press.org's typology quiz, I am a "New Coalition Democrat". I find it surprising that this website was able to define me based on an algorithm with only 20 dimensions. As I see it, government issues are too vast for anyone to describe themselves as Republican, Libertarians, or, in my case, "New Coalition Democrat". Foremost in my ideology is my belief that I cannot make up my mind on an issue I have no information about. It is often the case that people find themselves defending an argument they have no foundation for. My personal influences include Ghandi, and Martin Luther King Jr., whose peaceful protests proved most effective in securing civil rights for blacks in America. In 2008 I had the privilege of voting in my first election. Like a responsible citizen, I educated myself on the candidates I could, and left blank any I didn't have time to investigate, as I believe all people should. Like I've said, there's more to a person than a "Democrat" or "Republican" label. I hope to leave this class with a new thirst for participating in politics, although I have found that non-participation has not been as tragic as some would like you to believe.
