| Introduction | I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, my mother working in a factory and my father working in a shoe warehouse. I have an older brother who still resides in the Chicagoland area. I am the product of a Catholic school education, and endured the wrath of the nuns, at times. I met my husband while he was in the Navy and stationed in Chicago. We married two years later and we have been stationed in the Philippines, Milwaukee, WI, Philadelphia, PA, Albany, GA and Orlando, FL, which is where we retired and have called home for 38 years. We have five sons, one born in each duty station. I retired in 2008, at the beginning of the big recession, after 17 years with the local phone company. My husband's position with a local automobile dealership was eliminated one month after my retirement. JOY! I wasn't expecting a bump in the road at my stage of life :( |
