| Introduction | Do No Harm: The Coalition of Americans for Research Ethics (DNH)is composed of scientists, researchers, bioethicists, medical, academic and other professionals, patient advocates and concerned individuals who advocate the ethical pursuit of stem cell research and regenerative medicine in general. DNH opposes stem cell research that relies on the destruction of human life and on human cloning and supports such alternatives as adult and cord blood stem cell research and the more recent advances involving induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). DNH’s opposition to human embryonic stem cell research(hESCR)arises from the serious ethical concerns about the commodification of human life such research represents. This research destroys a human life by turning it into raw research material. Human life becomes a mere commodity to be created, manipulated and destroyed as a means to another’s end. Science does not need to kill in order to cure. |
