| Introduction | I am a child of the Civil Rights era. My mother, Mary Harris inspired me alway seek knowledge. She always encouraged me towards two goals in life: Believe and trust in Jesus Christ, and to seek knowledge through education. I was the first in my family to receive a college education, which led to a Ph.D in Political Science. I wanted to be a Civil Rights lawyer, God wanted me to Teach. I have been teaching since 1973.
