Introduction OYD was started in 1986 by Cecilia Macfarlane. It began as Bloomin’ Arts (now Fusion) for children aged 5-9. The classes proved popular and increased in number. In 1991 the organization, inspired by Oxford Youth Theatre at Pegasus Theatre, was renamed Oxford Youth Dance. Performance is an integral part of the work and there have been twice yearly performances at Pegasus Theatre in the Spring and Summer Terms. In 1996 OYD performed at the Oxford Playhouse, selling out two shows, and this has become a biennial event. All dancers have the opportunity to create and perform their own work, with direction by professional Oxford based Dance artists.
