| Introduction | I am pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Statesville, North Carolina, where duties include preaching, teaching and pastoral care. The Grace congregation is an active, out-reaching group, being involved in many sectors of the community. The truly free and open pulpit I am awarded is something to be coveted! My experience of 21 years working with the folks who are impoverished, sick, addicted, abused, homeless, and mentally ill have shaped my pilgrimage. My real claim to fame is that I am the husband of Patti. We have six children, and eight grandchildren who bring delight to our souls, especially as we play in the leaves, find great joy in the light of the moon, and the freedom of running with reckless abandon in the bright sunshine. |

| Favorite books | Though I read widely, it was Will Campbell's "Brother to a Dragonfly" that started turning me around in 1979. I find meaning in almost anyting published by the Jesus Seminar. Enjoy anything written by James Lee Burke! |
