| Introduction | My name is Katie Allen, and I am a graduate student in agricultural communications at Texas Tech University. I am from the small town of Marceline, Missouri, where my family farms livestock and row crops. I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2008 with a degree in agricultural journalism before moving to Texas! Agriculture is more than a way of life for my family and me. I am the oldest of six children and grew up showing livestock in 4-H. I still enjoy going to fairs and helping my younger brother and sisters show their cattle, sheep and hogs. My roots in agriculture and the 4-H program led me to my interest in agricultural communications. I have worked in magazine and newspaper writing and radio and television broadcasting throughout my college career, and I truly love telling agriculture's story in a variety of ways. I am excited to be a part of such an important industry! |
