| Introduction | I work at Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, a free secondary school for girls in an urban slum in Nairobi. My work at KGSA promotes gender equality in the sciences by teaching the girls about solar energy, electronics, and computer skills through construction, marketing and renting of solar LED lamps. I am writing as I learn about , observe, and research the dynamics of poverty, education, gender and culture in this community. |
