About me

Introduction	I live in Portland, Maine. I was born here, left here, and returned just like everyone said I would. I was engaged at 16 to an illegal immigrant from Ireland (doesn't get more romantic than that!), married at 18, and a mother by 19. After struggling in my early 20's, I obtained my BA in English and had two more daughters. I went on to receive my MFA in Creative Writing. Not too long after that, my marriage ended. I have had some luck placing short stories and do freelance work with national magazines and annuals. I am also a belly dancer, and work with my daughters in the family troupe, Luna Wind. We educate the public about Middle Eastern Dance and to a certain degree culture through entertainment and participation. I met my second husband, visual artist Drew Wilen in 2004. Together, we've worked on many projects and have had two sons. Yep, that's right, I have given birth to five kids!
