| Introduction | CAPT Larnerd enlisted in the Navy in 1975. Following training as a Hospital Corpsman, he was stationed in a wide variety of duty stations ranging from Adak, Alaska to Groton, Connecticut. In 1986 he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Medical Service Corps. He earned his Bachelor's degree by going to school on the weekends and earned his Master of Education through a full-time out-service program at the University of Maryland. Following his degree work, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland; as the Director for Administration at the Naval Ambulatory Care Center in Groton, Connecticut; as the Officer in Charge of the Branch Medical Clinic in La Maddalena, Italy; and on the staff of Commander, Naval Air Forces. From 2008 - 2010 he was assigned as the Executive Officer of the USNS COMFORT (T-AH 20) Medical Treatment Facility. In August 2010, he transferred to the Navy Medicine Training Center in San Antonio, TX where he currently serves as the Executive Officer and will assume the helm as Commanding Officer in October 2011. |
