| Introduction | A development professional in my early 40s, I follow world politics with a view that ideas and realities shape each other through a complex interaction, in which more often than not ideas have preeminence. Thus understanding the dynamics, inter-linkages and influence of ideas can help make sense of a sometimes confusing world.
