Introduction	We are a group of 6 Mira Costa juniors who are currently competing in the Quikscience challenge. The Quikscience challenge is essentially a large science fair open to high school students throughout the West Coast. Teams choose a marine-related, conservation-geared issue and come up with a research proposal and lesson plan and complete a community service project in order to examine possible solutions to the chosen topic. >>We have decided to study the process and effectiveness of recycling methods and its beneficial effects on marine ecosystems. Our goal is to come up with a more energy and cost efficient method of recycling in order to reduce the strain that trash has on ocean life. Also, we would love to get the community to be involved in any way in order to educate our coastal town about the benefits that recycling has on our beautiful ocean and beaches.
