Introduction	With a degree in Arabic and Hebrew I was fated to share the pain of the endless conflict between Israel and Palestine. I also have a degree in forestry and worked for seven years in the Algerian forest Service, to little effect. I have since taught ecology and economics, which I see as two aspects of the same thing. Our greatest problem, I believe, is our inability to share the planet fairly with each other and with its plants, animals and microbes, present and future. I gave money to a constitutional reform charity and in return received the bogus title of Viscount Cyclepath, so now I can cycle all over the country without leaving my domain.
