Introduction	Yala Widows and Orphans Support Project (YAWOSUP) is a non profit making community based organization started as a programme of Christian Churches Group. The programme was started in early 2007 with initial support from Anglican Church of Ashtead Parish. After some discussions between Rev. Dr. Bob Kiteley, Rector of Ashtead Parish and Brother Edward Wata (Director of YAWOSUP) in early 2007, which took place after visiting one of the widows caring for orphans at Sawagongo in Yala Division, a consensus was reached that that years funds from lent would be directed to YAWOSUP account. By then YAWOSUP was still just a project of Christian Churches Group. 300 widows and 60 orphans benefited from the funds. As need arose, additional 10 widows and 20 orphans were added to the number.
