| Introduction | I am all the things most women are today - wife, mom, "domestic engineer" as my father liked to say, and reluctant designer. As a dressmaker, I've often preferred to call myself a design "interpreter" - (funny, because one of my first career goals was to use my French language affinity at the UN.) Instead, now I split time between my home-based dressmaking business "Janee's Originals" studio (check out my website www.janeesoriginals.com), and spending time with my retired husband. I find myself really warming to moments where I can behave like the teacher I once dreamed I'd be. When I get the chance to play with my designs and fabric, I love explaining how something was accomplished. And so it seemed (no sewing puns here) only natural to share with a wider audience than my family and colleagues. |
