| Introduction | It all started, way back at the young age of 16, in the sleepy town of Duncan, BC. It was there I met my first Sensei, Fernando Correia. It was that man who showed me my future self. I knew almost at once what I wanted to do, and that was, become a teacher myself. I studied karate for almost 13 years, before one day meeting Sensei Mark Grant. Sensei Grant introduced me to the sport / martial art of Judo. I fell in love. Its been 12 years later, and I love every ache the sport has given me. The first four years of judo were spent absorbing the sport and working towards my ikkyu (brown belt). It was at this point I opened Shidokai in Mill Bay. The next four years, Shidokai and I worked together. I helped develop some talented judoka, and it helped me get my shodan (1st degree black belt). It was at this point, Sensei Grant approached me about taking over his club, Kokushikai, so that he could go into (semi-) retirement. I now teach at both dojo's, both kids and adults, and I LOVE my job! So enough about me. Lets move on to something MORE important. When are YOU going to step on the tatami for your first lesson in the gentle way? |
