Introduction | Joe Bell is an artist using technology to create sensory experiences and interactive environments with sound, visuals and objects. Joe's experimental work began in 2003 with abstract sound pieces based on generating tones through electronic means. In 2005 the experiments shifted to recording of physical sounds and exploring editing, layering and processing recordings to observe the emotional and semantic reaction displaced sound can have. In 2007 Joe began to explore the parallels his sonic research had with other areas of sensory perception and so started to incorporate visual and physical elements such as video and touch sensitivity. Joe is interested in generating audio and video through creating an environment for the audience to unwittingly improvise within and control. Joe has exhibited at The Whitechapel Gallery, Battersea Arts Center, Soho Writers Theatre, Trafalgar Studios, Sussex Arts Club and as an associate of They Are Here. |
