|Introduction||I'm a meteorologist, have a wife and 3 kids, and am very interested in rotating thunderstorms. Professionally, I work for Boeing and study/analyze aircraft hazards within convective anvils at high altitudes. I also perform accident investigation weather analyses. And finally I am a meteorologist for Sea Launch and go out to sea to forecast/monitor weather & sea state conditions for commercial satellite launches. In graduate school I studied thermodynamic properties of tornadic and nontornadic RFDs. Rear flank downdrafts continue to interest me... so there may be lots of RFD talk in my blog.
My publications on the topic of RFDs:
SLS conference paper on RFDs
MWR paper: Thermodynamic Analysis of RFDs
|Interests||Supercells, tornadoes, RFDs, storm chasing, snowboarding, hiking, meteorological instrumentation.|
