Introduction I still haven't figured out who I am, yet. I know I'm a big dork and still very much a child in a body that refuses to grow old gracefully. I'm a perfectionist who fucks up all the time. I notice typos and misspellings(and would appreciate it if you point out any I make); and I miss the art of letter writing. I have pretty strong convictions, but I do go through many phases. I'm committed to being non-committal. And if any of this strikes a chord with you and you want to know more, you just gonna hafta ask. I'm misunderstood most of the time which is why it takes a special person to be my friend.
Interests Traveling, trying to cook, reading, writing, art, scrapbooking, Scrabble, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, wine, dancing, playing silly music while drinking, poker, foosball, stroking my kitty, and enjoying various outdoor (and indo')activities with my schrubby.
Favorite Movies All-time faves: Purple Rain, Half-Baked, School of Rock, Amelie, Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d'enfants), Frida, Sideways, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Tim Burton movies, Lord of the Rings trilogy. I love period pieces and Lions Gate usually puts out quality films. I like classic films (the Rita Hayworth, Jimmy Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, Shirley Temple, Betty Boop kinds), too. I try to make it a point not to watch screenplay adaptations unless I've read the books first. The Notebook was an exception (yes, I loved it and cried like hell), but I was not impressed by the book. Docs: Spellbound, Mad Hot Ballroom, Word Wars, Slam Nation: The Art of Spoken Word, Rock School, Monster Road, In the Realms of the Unreal, Step Into Liquid, Touching the Void, Journey, Cold Fusion, Year of the Drag-In, Fight Girls, and Michael Moore's works. Well-written, well thought-out comedies like Welcome to the Doll House, Napoleon Dynamite (Gosh!), Dummy, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, 40-Year-Old Virgin, Wedding Crashers, Nacho Libre, and The Aristocrats.
Favorite Music It's eclectic... All-time faves: Bob Marley, Cure, U2, Prince, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Nine Inch Nails, the Doors, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Sade, and Elvis. I also have a special place in my heart for music/artists that makes me nostalgic for my youth. They are guilty pleasures that only a privileged few may know about. Current faves: Coldplay, Massive Attack, Portishead, Radiohead, Verve, Tool, Aqualung, Interpol, No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, Tenacious D, Hipwaders, Jill Tracy, Norah Jones... where ARE my grrlz at?
Favorite Books Anything by Isabel Allende lately. Occasionally, I'll re-indulge in my goth phase and read my Anne Rice books. Also, Green Eggs and Ham, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Phantom Tollbooth, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Edward Gorey books, Grass Dancer by Susan Power, and Memoirs of a Geisha (the movie was disappointing). Sadly, though, I'm currently more well read on young adult fiction like the Harry Potters and the Series of Unfortunate Events.
