| Introduction | I am the mother of two children, 15 and 11. I am also a full time graduate student studying communication. My children and I came to the United States 15 months ago from Korea. Each of my family members has their own adjustment experience in foreign contries including my husband who lived in Denmark for a post-doc program. With different ages, backgrounds, genders and expectations, we have gone through various transitional journeys. How well one is adjusted to different culture may depend on the degree of family support, attitude, and positive identification. I hope to make this space to share personal experiences so that our living in foreign culture turns out more pleasant and positive experience.. |
