| Introduction | I dig basketball. And I dig that it's getting better all the time. I think it could get even better, faster, with the assistance of an open community of scholarship akin to the sabermetric community in baseball. I have absolutely zero faith that this will happen. It is very, very rare that I read any "advanced" stats stuff that isn't horseshit. If there's real stuff out there, it's proprietary stuff from NBA teams that (understandably) don't share. And NBA coverage can be a fuck of a lot better. My hope that by 2050 only 98% of people paid to write about the NBA suck horribly. It's a lofty goal, but I am a believer. |
| Favorite Books | Loose Balls is among the greatest literary achievements in sports history. Also, I think the author, Jayson Williams, lost a lot of money in a civil suit for killing his chauffeur, so he could probably use the money. I guess you could buy the book used, but you would deprive Williams of money that he desperately needs to add to his gun collection. |
