Introduction	At the beginning I was a complete novice with respect to politics -- but I learned early, after being beat upon for some time. The thing that most interested me at the time was Bill C-195 in 1969, 44 pages, the first 43 consisting of legalese which I could not decipher. Then I read page 44 and at the top of the page it said: "Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, the Governor in Council may...." In other words, a blank check to change whatever at whatever time, for whatever reason. That got me wondering: Why would that phrase be put in there, if they did not intend that it be used at their convenience? The only answer I ever got to that question was: "You just don't understand," the catchall for the "unwashed" who should remain embarrassed and ignorant. Not good enough, and so I started my fight.
