| Introduction | Thinking about privacy has become my professional way of life. It wasn't a conscious decision nor was it a calling, but ever since I graduated from Law School, it got under my skin. Currently, I am a partner in Privacy Management Partners, a privacy consultancy firm based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Previously, I worked for Philips, the Dutch electronics firm, leading its global privacy function and pioneering the concept of Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs). Before that I worked for the Dutch Data Protection Authority and was a researcher in employee privacy. I am also the chairman of the Privacy Committee of the Dutch Industry and Employers Confederation (VNO-NCW / MKB Nederland) and a board member of the Dutch Privacy Law Association (VPR). NOTE: The views and thoughts posted here are mine only, and do not necessarily represent the position of VNO-NCW or MKB Nederland. |
