Introduction I am a 20-something human (now that I can no longer use the label "college student" "human" is the only noun that seems to kind of work here) aspiring to be anything or everything. I love learning languages, running, being outside, taking photographs, going outside my comfort zone often, and speaking in puns. My change of this blog name from “Think It Bake It” to “Explicating the Emic” is one that reflects a shift to conscious examination of who we are, what we do, and how we’re doing it. The term “emic” refers to analysis of cultural phenomena from the perspective of someone participating in it, essentially the “insider view.” Although often it’s used in regards to ethnographers attempting to capture the emic view of a culture other than his/her own, I find myself most often turning a scrutinizing eye on my "own" culture, explicating a genuinely emic view of my own culture. (Although the title of this blog hasn't really limited what I write about...) Indeed, I am still thinking and baking, just more often with concepts and words, and picking apart “recipes” rather than putting them together.
