| Introduction | Salve, my name is Livia. I am chiefly known as the wife of emperor Augustus and the mother of emperor Tiberius. I was born in 58 B.C.E. I was first married to Tiberius Claudius Nero, but whilst I was pregnant with my second son I became married to Julius Caesar Octavianus, otherwise known as Augustus. We lived a long marriage of over fifty years, just until his death. My first born son, Tiberius, then became emperor, though Augustus didn't want him to. When all of Augustus' heirs mysteriously died, I was put under questioning. However, I was always a dutiful, loyal and obedient wife. |
