| Introduction | I am a counsellor, a hypnotherapist and a HypnoBirthing childbirth educator. With a degree in Biological Sciences, my first career was in application sales support visiting many of the major pharmaceutical companies in Europe where I became intrigued by the placebo effect that was often apparent in drug trials. The more I found out about the placebo effect, the more I realised that the mind itself may be a powerful healing force. As part of the HypnoBirthing course I embarked upon whilst pregnant with my second son I learnt various techniques to unlock the potential of my mind and to use them as a means to bring about positive and lasting changes in my life. This sparked off further studies that resulted in a second career in counselling, hypnotherapy and HypnoBirthing based on an abiding interest in the way the mind works and a desire to helps others access the healing power of their minds. I am passionate about helping parents empower themselves through comprehensive antenatal support and education. In addition to the HypnoBirthing classes that I run, I coordinate the Newbury Home Birth Group and sit on the Maternity Services Liaison Committee at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. |
