| Introduction | i have my bachelor's degree in unified science (which basically means hodge-podge science), but my main focus after graduation has been in formulation chemistry. i worked at monsanto for 2 years as a pesticide formulation chemist, and pfizer as a biological pharmaceutical formulator (big difference!!), as well as just an analytical chemist for 1) biofuel cell research, and 2) imaging pharmaceuticals. so....... i've been around! in my spare time during these career jaunts, i've been making soaps, lotions, and a bunch of other stuff that i can think of. these shenanigans have been going on since 2002. i first learned how to make soap in my chemistry class in college. the first try was simply a disaster, but i was intrigued! i spent a lot of time researching methods and math to make soap, and along the way i picked up emulsions (lotions). other things fell into place, and now i'm hooked! i also can't stop crocheting- i make hats, scarves, baby hats and booties, blankets, mittens..... whatever! as long as my wrist isn't numb, you can usually find me crocheting :) |
