| Introduction | Living in several countries over many years means I am both at home and not at home wherever I live. In any case, being both detached and engaged with places suits my temperament and experience. The world, while often in a sad mess, is a beautiful place. My political aspiration is to seek to carry the best of the past into the future. As to religion, when a teenager I tried to be an atheist but found the task impossible. For me, it did not compute. There is something 'far greater and more deeply interfused' behind and within our amazing universe. So learning to be grateful and responsible are my life-long aims. |
