OccupationUW-Extension Community Development Educator
LocationWaupaca, Wisconsin, United States
IntroductionI am the UW-Extension Community Development Educator for Waupaca County and have held this position for close to 10 years (5 in Winnebago County and 5 in Waupaca County). I am married to my High School sweatheart (Brenda) and have two kids (Tanner - 4; Clara - 2) and two yellow labs (Drake and Abby). LWC is my favorite UW responsibility, and family, hunting, fishing, and following the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers fill my free time. My leadership philosophy is always evolving, but is centered on 3 main components. To be a well rounded leader, one must have standard skills, an understanding of the processes (i.e., pathways) for getting things accomplished, and wisdom. Public speaking and writing are examples of standards skills. The local and state government systems are examples of pathways. Wisdom is a combination of content knowledge and the wise application of it. LWC focuses on teaching some standard skills, pathways, and content knowledge. Wise application is a normative judgement that is beyond reach of this class. I have many hopes for each participant, one of which is to help you think about your personal leadership philosophy.
