About me

LocationUrayasu, Chiba, Japan
IntroductionI was born in 1956 in Shikoku, Japan. I started studying Aikikai while at university, where I reached the rank of nidan (second degree black belt). I first met Gozo Shioda Sensei (the founder of Yoshinkan Aikido) in 1981 when I visited his dojo in Koganei and again later when I attended a month-long Yoshinkan Aikido training camp. After graduation, I worked briefly at a chemical company before joining the Yoshinkan as Shioda Sensei's uchi deshi (apprentice). I spent 14 years with Shioda Sensei as his uchi deshi. I was awarded the title of Shihan (Master) in 1993 and in 1996 I founded Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu in Chiba. Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu currently has around 700 students, with clubs in Chiba, Saitama, Tokyo, Osaka and Okinawa. I currently hold the rank of nanadan (7th degree black belt) and I continue to enjoy both studying and teaching aikido to students from Japan and from all around the world.
