| Introduction | 66 yrs old, artist designer, widowed, 3 children. Trained at Hornsey/Middlesex London, studied printmaking at the Rijks Akedemie, Amsterdam. Did Postgrad painting at the Slade in London in 1986. Also studied Business Science at the University of North London, and received an MBA in 2001. Lived in London for 27 years where I worked as an artist and also built up a trade as a builder and carpenter. Besides working as a journeyman, I worked on the developement, renovation and refurbishment of residential property in London. Decamped to Cape Town in 2003 and started working on furniture and art pieces in a studio at the Old Castle Breweries Building in Woodstock. Since 2015 I have relocated to my Home studio which has become entrenched particularly after Covid. I would describe myself as a 'bricoleur'. My passion is assemblage and I am a horder at heart. I used tocollect used tins, beach plastic, bottle tops and driftwood, all of which find there way into my art. For the last 5 years I have returned to traditional oil painting, particularly landscapes. You will also find me on a golf course or a tennis court when it's not raining hard. |
