Introduction | Studied oldmaster techniques under Cecil ffrench Salkeld RHA. Decor for Pike, Gate and Globe Theatres Dublin until 1957 when he moved to London. First exhibition at Abbot and Holder Gallery 1960. Was part of The School of London which was led by Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud. Painted Bacon from life in 1960 (work now in The National Portrait Gallery collection) Moved to France in 1963 and held many one man exhibitions in Paris and Rouen. In Paris met and painted author Jill Neville (work now in The National Gallery of Australia) Had one man retrospective at UNESCO Paris 1994. Gray lives and works between London and Paris. |
