| Introduction | Funded by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth and Detroit Workforce Development Department, Detroit’s Year Round Youth Program (DYRYP) is a division of CareerWorks, Inc., a Michigan Works! Affiliate. DYRYP began more than 30 years ago as the Summer Employment Youth Training Program. At it’s inception the goal was to provide Detroit teens from low income families with summer jobs. Today, DYRYP is a comprehensive youth program. Our services still focus on economically disadvantaged residents. However, our program offerings have grown and we provide much more than a summer job for Detroit youth age 14-21. With our support Detroit youth achieve their personal, academic and career goals. We provide all our customers with Advocacy Academic Enrichment Career Education & Preparation Employment Services & Support Guidance & Counseling Leadership Development Opportunities Our partners include Detroit’s Work Place, Detroit Public Schools, Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Recreation Department, the Arts Place, other youth service agencies, the corporate community, mentors and parents. |
