| Introduction | I kind of puttered around at being a grown up for a number of years, even after I got married. Everything changed in 2000 - the year I had my daughter. Just having a baby (especially when I had never babysat anyone growing up), was a change. We knew something wasn't quite right, but we didn't get the formal diagnosis of autism until about 18 months. That's when my real grown-up life began. I spent my share of time railing at the fates, but then you put on your big girl panties and get on with it. The most important thing I do is make sure my daughter is going to be ready for the world, and to keep my sanity while doing that, I read, watch a little TV, do a little gaming, and enjoy making things. |
