IntroductionI am 33 years old and have spent much of my adult life trying to prevent pregnancy. I never knew trying to have a baby could be so difficult. We've been trying to get pregnant since September 2007. In April of 2008, we had a glimmer of hope with a positive pregnancy test, but one week later found out that 5 and 1/2 weeks into the pregnancy I miscarried. My pregnancy was considered a chemical pregnancy... whatever that means! Many people told me to "stop thinking about trying to become pregnant" or that I was "too stressed out" and once I "relaxed" it would happen. Because how I really wanted to respond was not an option, I settled for, "O.k. Great idea!" However, deep down, I felt something wasn't right. After testing, it turned out that I was right. As twisted as it sounds, I never felt so happy to hear that there was something wrong. For the first time in a year, I finally didn't feel crazy! In October, after consulting with my OB-GYN, we were referred to Shady Grove Fertility. After further testing, James and I found out we were "perfect candidates" for IVF. Three months later, we have just started our first IVF cycle. This is where our story begins.
